What makes Educo different?
In the crowded landscape of outdoor programs, we get asked this question a lot. Ironically, it's the very premise of that question that is what sets us apart. We don't consider ourselves an outdoor program; we're a youth development program.
Educo is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to create ridiculously fun adventures that challenge kids to step outside their comfort zone, connect with new and unexpected friends and discover their sense of self and innate leadership. Ridiculously fun wilderness adventure environments are the setting we use, but we are defined by the growth, learning and reflection that our programs are designed to elicit.
Youth who participate in an Educo experience are empowered to own their experience. We teach leadership by giving kids opportunities to lead. We teach it by giving them a chance to support their peers. We teach it by fostering an environment full of genuine interactions, legitimate accomplishments and success.
We value and cherish the natural world, unexpected connections and the benefits of challenge. For more than 20 years we have recognized that the world is an amazing classroom, that all of us have untapped potential and that like all of us, youth learn best through experience.
Educo is without a doubt an incredibly fun adventure experience, and truth be told, often so fun that the excitement, new friends and adventures overshadow the learning, but at our core we are about youth development.
